Smart technology is not only making productive strides in industrial and commercial spheres; these gadgets transform home automation in remarkable ways. They save time, streamline domestic chores, and revolutionize entertainment, truly catapulting us into a futuristic age.
Recently, developers unveiled their latest discoveries and inventions at CES, the leading tech event on the annual calendar. Here’s a closer look at the smart home tech topping the charts this year.
Robotic Vacuums
Robotic vacuum cleaners have evolved dramatically since the days of the first Roombas. In addition to mapping rooms and self-navigating around corners, advancements now include staircase cleaning and climbing.
The Roborock Saros Rover is currently leading the pack. Its designers upgraded this nifty little machine and added a pair of legs mounted on wheels. This addition enables it to navigate different levels, such as stairs, and clean them while climbing.
These legs operate independently, so one can lower while the other raises. For example, when cleaning stairs, one leg remains extended as an anchor on the lower step to stabilize the robot. This facilitates clearing obstacles and cleaning multi-tiered spaces.
Another 2026 showstopper and Best of CES nominee, the Robotin R2 Pro, is a three-in-one modular model that vacuums, mops, and shampoos carpets and floors. The makers report that this proficient robot can wash and dry approximately 400 square feet in three hours. If you just want a vacuum and a mop, for example, you can simply change the modules.
Smart Locks
Smart locks don’t need keys; you can open them with technological tools or biometrics. More secure than traditional locks, people use them for everything from front doors to safes.
The Lockin V7 Max, which was a Best of CES nominee, is a smart lock that remains wirelessly powered without batteries or direct wiring. It uses wireless optical technology called Auracharge to stay charged. Simply plug a separate transmitter into an outlet within the required proximity, and infrared beams wirelessly maintain fast, stable, and reliable power to the lock.
Thanks to external cameras, you can also use this smart lock as a video doorbell. It incorporates biometric functions, so you can lock and unlock it with your palm, fingerprint, or face. In addition, it features AI recognition abilities.
Ring Smart Sensors
Safeguard your home and surroundings and receive notifications when something goes wrong with Ring Smart Sensors. Part of Amazon Sidewalk, these monitor everything from doors and windows to leaks and air quality using different sensors.
The sensors automatically connect to Amazon Sidewalk and offer a helpful way to monitor and control your home environment.
Smart Fridges
Connected to the internet, a smart fridge features AI and touchscreens and does much more than simply cool and store food. It can monitor your stock levels with internal cameras, alert you about expiration dates, generate grocery lists, and recommend recipes.
The showstopper at the 2026 CES was the GE Profile Smart Fridge. It includes a barcode scanner to update your shopping list, which it can tally and display on the touchscreen. This fridge also takes photos of your fresh produce and sends them to the app on your phone. Add an auto water filler that knows when your glass is full and provides measured water for cooking, and you have the fridge of the future!
Smart Blinds
Smart blinds open, close, or tilt automatically. You can control them with apps, remotes, or voice assistants such as Alexa. They feature sensors that optimize light control, protect furniture from direct sunlight, and create a lived-in appearance when you’re not home. These energy-efficient solutions integrate well with other smart home gadgets.
Lutron’s latest innovation sets itself apart from the pack by automatically detecting and adjusting to maximize the entry of natural light, block harmful rays, and save energy. Called Natural Light Optimization, these blinds work with long-lasting disposable batteries, which means there are no cables or other tricky connections.
Humanoid Helpers
The era of robots in our homes is dawning. These admittedly still have some way to go before they can do all of your chores, but there is one that can do some of them.
The LG CLOiD is a humanoid robot that synchronizes with your other LG appliances. With its big wheels for easy mobility, a camera, a body that goes up and down, and rotating arms, it can perform many functions. It even has expressions!
The makers indicate that it will be able to start the dishwasher, preheat the oven, and swap laundry and fold it, too. Plus, it can get ingredients from the fridge and help you cook!
Smart Scales
Health tech can help you reach your wellness goals. Smart scales scan your whole body, evaluate your metabolism, and check your nerve health in addition to weighing you. You can link the scale to a fitness tracker to monitor your progress and work toward goals.
Smart Lighting
You can control these smart light bulbs with apps or voice commands. Functions include brightness regulation and color changes. They’re also an energy-efficient solution for a greener home.
Smart tech makes it easier to control and secure your environment, and these gadgets are the future of home living.
